Brodie the big wet nose

I drew a simple comic to document what happened on the way home from CTN.

Drawing simple comic was fun...and drawing Brodie is even funner.

It was my first time letting a dog licks my face. Kind of gross but heart warming at the same time.
I thought "that's why people get a dog!"

Birdy

I was trying to figure out how to mimic a paper cut-out in Photoshop so I can use the method for my next painting..
Even though this bird doesn't look like a paper cut-out yet I do like how it turns out...I'm happy with her looks.

She is actually part of my new painting I'm working on.

Mama's Cafe

I've always been struggling with 'giving charm' to my work
I don't know what happened but somehow there's always something missing in my paintings and drawings.

Until I heard Ryan Woodward interview with paper wings podcast. <---click here to hear the interview. it's very inspiring. There's two parts.)

I realized what I lack is my love for my work.
What I have been doing most of the time is 'to build a portfolio'
There's no real soul into it. That's why my stuff has not been appealing!

so this time I decide to really put 'me' into my work.
as Ryan Woodward said "it will be scary!', but I'm going to try.

I just started my project a couple days ago, and here are the few sketches I did.

I always have this romantic idea of opening a coffee shop when I retire.
This coffee shop will be named "Mama's Cafe"

I have this thought since I was in middle school. However, this dream can only happen if I become a very rich old lady, because the way I will run this store will never make profit.

My first thoughts for this place are "cozy, homey & blanket"

Blanket?
yes! One of the things that my coffee shop must has is blanket.
BLANKET, is the source of cozy and homey.

Imagine you are on your way back home on a cold and rainy day. You need a hot drink to warm up your body and you want a good rest, but then you remember, there's nothing at home..............

You WANT mama's cafe!

mama will always have a blanket and a soft couch for you to rest on. To top it off, there will also be hot drink and food.

EVERYTHING HAS TO BE HOMEMADE! (yup, mama is rocking that sunflower apron)

It's harder to see homemade food nowadays and I miss that...
I love the romantic idea of an old lady making her own food and say to her customer, 'I know you gonna like this, kid" and the old lady serves you the food that she would also give to her family.

I especially dislike the idea of buying syrups, I don't mean maple syrup, I mean the syrup you put into your drink to make it taste like raspberry, strawberry or other fruity flavors..and chocolate syrup...
These kinds of syrup can be homemade.

I am not going to say 'homemade' is better for you..sugar is sugar.

but HOMEMADE~ this beautiful word that almost doesn't exist anymore...Let's have mama keep it alive!

how about the coffee?
Mama doesn't know much about coffee, so as long it doesn't taste bad, mama will be fine serving it.
she gonna rock that espresso machine for hot chocolate though.

food is more important is this cafe.

This is what I have so far.
This is my first personal project ever.
These are just my first step :D

final reel from last term of school

I am finally done with school and will walk the stage in 8 days..9 days...depends on where you are on earth.

after two weeks of break outside of the states I decided to post the reel here.

I will be back to the states soon and be busy afterwards.
Really putting myself in the real word is
quite scary but I believe I'll live through it and soon enjoy my adulthood.
I am really grateful for all the blessings I got and I shall work hard and no whining.

British whispers

"how other people perceived England"

we brainstorm for a week or so then started on the project.

I cannot be more happy to be able to work with a group of really dedicated and talented classmates/friends
